Charge Types

Charge Types are the name you give to each tariff. Your staff will select the tariff to apply from a list of Charge Types so it is important to establish Charge Types which provide as much direction as possible. eg Standard rate, Weekend Special, Seniors Rate etc.

Go to Setup Menu from the Upper Tool Bar, choose Charge Types, then select Add.

Charge Type:  
Charge Types determine which tariff will be applicable. Eg Standard Rate, Mid week special. When making a reservation, the booking officer will select a Charge Type from a drop down list of all relevant tariffs so clear and concise naming of Charge Types will assit in selection of the correct tariffs.  
 
Think of a Charge Type as the name of the tariff which is to apply to that reservation.  
 
Rack Rate:  
Select if this is your Rack Rate - used for reporting  
 
Tariff Charge Description:  
The description which appears on the client account may be amended to be different from the Charge type, to make it more descriptive for clients.  
   
Long description:  
Additional information about this charge type ( tariff inclusions, restrictions etc) may be recorded here.  
 
Discount:  
If a discount applies to this Charge Type, it may be specified here. Eg A Charge Type of Seniors may use standard rates but have a 5% discount. see also Discounts  
 
Grouping:  
If you wish to have this Charge Type located with certain other Charge Types when constructing reports, use the Grouping feature to identify like Charge Types  
 
Tariff Availability  
You may restrict use of a Charge Type to certain nights, or duration.
